The Parti destourien libre (PDL - الحزب الدستوري الحر - Free Destourian
Party) was established on 23 September 2013, as the Mouvement destourien (Destourian
Movement) by Hamed Karoui (b. 1927), Prime Minister of Ben Ali from 1989 to
1999. Renamed to Parti destourien libre on 16 August 2016, the party is chaired
by the lawyer Abir Moussi. The PDL claims to be the continuation of Ben Ali's
Rassemblement constitutionnel démocratique (RCD); opposed to the Jasmine
Revolution and to the Islamists, the PDL is often accused to call for a come
back to Bourguiba and Ben Ali's regime.
In the 2014 presidential
election, Abderrahim Zouari was the 28th (out of 29) most voted candidate (2,701
votes; 0.08%). In the 2019 presidential election, Abir Moussi was the 9th most
voted candidate (135,461 votes; 4%). In the general election that followed, the
PDL was the third most voted party (189,356 votes; 6.6%), securing 17 seats at
the Assembly of the Representatives of Tunisia. The party celebrated its success
in Monastir, Bourguiba's birth town.

The flag of the PDL is white with the party's logo. Unsurprisingly, the logo
of the PDL is very similar to the logo of the old RCD, without the Tunisian
flag, though.
